Dupytrens Contracture
All our procedures are carried out under local anaesthesia. Please see our patient information leaflet for more details.
What is Dupytren's Contracture?
A condition where scar-like tissue forms just beneath the skin of your fingers and the palm of your hand. Over time, this tissue can contract and force one or more fingers to curl up into the palm.
What does the operation involve?
The appointment generally takes around 30-50 minutes and involves numbing the hand with a local anaesthetic so that the thickened tissue can be removed. You will be able to go home the same day, but you will need to arrange someone to drive you.
How soon will I recover?
There may be tenderness around the scar, this normally lessens by six weeks but may persist for up to three months or longer.
